Thyroid illnesses
A pajzsmirigy rendellenes működésén alapuló megbetegedések prevalenciája növekvő tendenciát mutat: 2021-ben 785 156 beteget regisztrált a Központi Statisztikai Hivatal Magyarországon (ebből: 660 671 nő), és ez a szám tovább növekszik. Annak ellenére, hogy a pajzsmirigybetegséget akár népbetegségként is említhetjük, hazánkban viszonylag kevés pszichológiai kutatás irányul a területre, de nemzetközileg is alulreprezentált.
Chronic illness is not easy to live with, as it can seriously reduce quality of life. In specialist endocrinology care, the doctor often only has the capacity to adjust the medication - in many cases this leads to a reduction in symptoms and an improvement in the patient's condition. In many cases, however, appropriate medication is not enough to improve the patient's well-being and quality of life, but other complementary methods are needed: changes in the patient's diet, lifestyle, exercise habits. This also includes psychological counselling to support the psychological difficulties caused by the disease, as mental and physical health are equally important for the well-being of the patient.
