It also goes by the following names: Graves' disease, autoimmune hyperthyroidism, Basedow's disease. The disease is caused by an inflammation of the thyroid gland, which changes the way the thyroid gland works. The disease is often hidden at first and only noticed from other symptoms (e.g. eye symptoms).<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Onset: about 60% of cases of hyperthyroidism are Graves' disease, more common in women (5:1 in female to male ratio). It can be caused by genetic inheritance, familial accumulation or environmental factors (e.g. stress, smoking).<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Symptoms: varied but with clear symptoms:<\/p><ul><li>physical symptoms: appearance of goitre (physical enlargement of the thyroid gland, often visible on the neck), eye symptoms (eye bulging, upper eyelid drooping when looking down, no downward movement or slow blinking), rapid heartbeat, accelerated metabolism<\/li><li>psychological symptoms: nervousness, emotional instability, irritability<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"translation-block\">Diagnosis: primarily by blood test. The levels usually checked are TSH, fT4, fT3, anti-TPO, TRAK. TSH is usually low, T4 and T3 are elevated. Anti-TPO and TRAK are also present. J\u00f3val tart\u00f3sabb megold\u00e1st ny\u00fajthat a radioj\u00f3d kezel\u00e9s, amelynek sor\u00e1n sug\u00e1rz\u00f3 j\u00f3d izot\u00f3pot juttatnak a szervezetbe. Mivel a j\u00f3d a pajzsmirigyben halmoz\u00f3dik, \u00edgy itt tud hatni, \u00e9s \u00e9s cs\u00f6kkenti a pajzsmirigy\u00e1llom\u00e1nyt. A m\u0171t\u00e9t is hasonl\u00f3 hat\u00e1st \u00e9r el: a pajzsmirigy egy r\u00e9sz\u00e9t kiveszik, \u00edgy a &#8222;marad\u00e9k&#8221; m\u00e1r kevesebb hormont termel. Ez ut\u00f3bbi kett\u0151 kezel\u00e9s ide\u00e1lis esetben a megfelel\u0151 hormontermel\u00e9st eredm\u00e9nyezi, de nem lehet pontosan meghat\u00e1rozni, mennyi sz\u00f6vetet kell elt\u00e1vol\u00edtani ehhez, \u00edgy gyakran alulm\u0171k\u00f6d\u00e9s l\u00e9p fel. Oka lehet genetikai \u00f6r\u00f6kl\u0151d\u00e9s, csal\u00e1di halmoz\u00f3d\u00e1s vagy k\u00f6rnyezeti t\u00e9nyez\u0151k (pl. stressz, doh\u00e1nyz\u00e1s). T\u00fcnetei: v\u00e1ltozatos, de egy\u00e9rtelm\u0171 t\u00fcnetek jellemzik: testi t\u00fcnetek: str\u00fama megjelen\u00e9se (a pajzsmirigy fizikai megnagyobbod\u00e1sa, ami gyakran j\u00f3l l\u00e1that\u00f3 a nyakon), szemt\u00fcnetek (a szem kid\u00fclled\u00e9se, lefel\u00e9 tekint\u00e9skor a fels\u0151 szemh\u00e9j elmarad, nem mozdul lefel\u00e9, illetve lass\u00fa pislog\u00e1s), er\u0151s sz\u00edvdobog\u00e1s, gyorsult anyagcsere lelki t\u00fcnetek: idegess\u00e9g, \u00e9rzelmi labilit\u00e1s, ingerl\u00e9kenys\u00e9g Diagn\u00f3zisa: Els\u0151sorban v\u00e9rv\u00e9tellel t\u00f6rt\u00e9nik.
